Caitlin Bailey
Caitlin Bailey is a wildlife filmmaker based in San Antonio, Texas. She has been filming topside and with remotely operated vehicles down to 6,000 meters on multiple ocean exploration vessels since 2015, including 24 expeditions aboard NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. She has created over 100 short films about the deep sea. Caitlin also has experience shooting long lens, underwater, macro, studio, and is a Part 107 licensed drone operator. She has also received training on camera trapping. Caitlin has been on assignment in the Arctic and twice to Antarctica. She is a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and drysuit diver. Caitlin is a National Geographic Explorer and was the inaugural participant in the Second Assistant Program. She also received and completed an Early Career Grant documenting the Texas Horned Lizard Reintroduction Project. She was in the third cohort of National Geographic’s Field Ready Program and received training to work on natural history productions. Caitlin is currently part of the National Geographic Pristine Seas media team and is an Expert with National Geographic Expeditions. She is also a member of the Emerging League with the International League of Conservation Photographers. Caitlin has a Master of Fine Arts in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
